Five Minute Friday – Light – GO
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105
We think we have to read all these books to understand who God is, what being a Christian looks like, to make sure we stay on the right path.
But what we really need to do is immerse ourselves in the word of God. His word is a lamp and a light, to make the way clear for us to see.
In the dry and desert wasteland, when we ask why God, his word and his truth speaks to us, bringing light into the darkness. He is our shade, our bread of life, the living water. He is the light of the world, our only hope.
Pain is real, hurt is real – but all of it drives us into the arms of the loving Father.
As we read his word, the light of life is revealed to us. The truth of salvation becomes real. The power of God confirms to us that this IS the true word of God.
We don’t need to read books on why the Bible is true. We don’t need to read books on Christianity and godly living. What we DO need to read is the Word which is light to our souls.
He gives us just enough light to see through to the end of this hour, this day, this month, this year. He gives it through his word, and it is always enough.
Christ came to be a light to the nations, to show us how to live, to die for our sins. He came to show us the fulfillment of God’s word, to take the burdens off our shoulders, to give us living water and to bring light into our darkness.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 1:7
Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:7-10
