We’re slowing the series down here with just over a week of posts left! I most definitely have far more than I can possibly ever share with you here, and it’s a bit overwhelming. But I’m doing my best to finish as best I can without fully giving up! I would encourage you to continue doing your own research, finding companies you can work with that provide ethical, fair trade products and support the work of artisans all over the world.

Dignify means “to confer honour or dignity upon”, and that’s just what Canadian company, Dignify.ca aims to do.

Have you ever heard of kantha blankets? If you haven’t, pause here for a moment and just drink in this beauty.

Dignify Kantha blankets are hand-stitched in Bangladesh, made out of multiple layers of reclaimed sari cloth. “Kantha” refers to the stitch which is used to sew them – essentially a very intricate embroidery that results in a beautiful piece of work.

These blankets are sewn by women who work with Basha, a small jewelry and textile company in Dhaka, Bangladesh (we heard about them in my Global Mothers post). They are redeemed and rescued from sex trafficking and retrained to create these gorgeous products.

They’re the perfect blanket, and they come in small sizes, to a throw, to a full bed spread.

They drape beautifully over the arm of a couch, double as tablecloths, or can be sewn into pillows and table runners.

The fabric, design and colours are breathtaking – the handiwork is truly exquisite. And on top of all that, these blankets are providing freedom and a new life for women who were formerly slaves.

Dignify offers more than just Kantha blankets for sale – check out some more of my favourite jewelry, accessories and household items from them below! (Click on the photos to be taken to the link.) Each hand-crafted artisan item benefits individuals, families and communities around the world.
