2 cp quick cook rolled oats
1 1/2 cp flour
1 cp chopped nuts
1 cp packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 cp butter, melted
2 tbsp shortening
1 1/2 cp M&Ms
1 can (12 oz) sweetened condensed milk

Grease jelly roll pan. Mix oats, flour, nuts, brown sugar, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Stir in butter until coarse crumbs form. Reserve 1 1/2 cp crumb mixture. Press remaining crumb mixture into pan. Bake @ 375 for 10 minutes.

Heat shortening in small saucepan over low heat until melted. Stir in 1 cp M&Ms. Press until they break into pieces. Remove from heat. Stir in sweetened condensed milk. Spread over baked layer of coarse crumbs to w/in 1/2 inch of edges. Mix together reserved crumb mixture and remaining candies. Sprinkle evenly over chocolate mixture; press lightly.

Bake @ 375 until golden brown, about 20 minutes. Cool. Cut into bars.
