There are a lot of “organic” products out on the market. But what we don’t realize is that a large number of these products aren’t actually 100% organic. Not so with Sweet Cream Organic skin care.
I was first introduced to these products by my amazingly talented friend, Lisa. This is her baby and something she is very passionate about.
Lisa makes everything by hand, using only the finest, pure, organic and natural ingredients for the highest possible quality – shea cocoa, essential oils, natural beeswax, and fruit and plant extracts like aloe vera and cucumber. Her baby balm contains calendula, which makes it a great product to treat diaper rash, eczema and cradle cap, along with providing moisturizing for baby’s sensitive skin.
When she first started looking into “organic” products, Lisa decided to look a little further than the words on the label, to the actual ingredients, and was surprised at what she found.
Would you believe that a lot of products that are allowed to be labeled “organic” still contain synthetic ingredients, many of which cause hormone imbalances, toxicity, even cancer? Most store products are only required to contain 30% organic ingredients to be labeled as “organic”.
Even worse, let’s take a quick look at the regular, commercial skin care and hair care products on the market. They are loaded with synethics, such as these:
- pthalates: a chemical compound used as a preservative, makes “perfumes” and “fragrances” last long (that “new car smell” is pthalates at work)
- sulfates: sodium laurel/laureth sulfate, a chemical, synthetic cleanser which is very abrasive, harsh and drying, and contained in most shampoos, cleansers, body wash and hand soap
- parabens: synthetic moisturizers and emulsifiers
Lisa speaks a bit more on her website about the dangers of commercially manufactured products if you’re interested in educating yourself further.
When Lisa started Sweet Cream Organic, she did so because she wanted to educate her friends and family, and provide them with completely safe, high quality, natural and affordable organic products. She’s done it.
She started off by purchasing her 100% organic ingredients and testing out a few ideas for creating different products. Then she gave them to friends and family to try out and use.
In the process of all of this, Lisa has developed a fantastic small business with amazing products that I can feel good about using, knowing they are totally and completely safe for my family’s skin.
I have combination skin, which means that I had to use different sets of cleansers, toners and moisturizers for summer and winter to combat the oil and dry skin. This became really expensive (not to mention frustrating), constantly using different products on my face, and confusing my skin.
Lisa gave me her foaming face wash to try (my favourite is the grapefruit!) with the clarifying facial serum. I’ve been using it since this time last year, and there is no turning back. My skin doesn’t react, breakouts are minimal, if at all, and in the summer, it helps me to stay dry, and perfectly moisturized in the winter.
Another of my favourites is the body balm – Lisa’s tip: use only a small amount and rub it between your hands to warm it up, then smooth into your skin. As with all of her products, just a little bit goes a really long way!
The product line that Lisa offers right now includes:
- skin care – anti-aging, facial serums, cleansers, body moisturizers, hand wash
- baby wash and balm (with a great belly balm for pregnant mamas!)
- sugar scrubs
- lip balms
- deodorant
- hair care
- mineral makeup
- facial toner
