Reading in Hebrews 13 today. Verse 17 says “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”

This goes two ways. First, I must obey the leaders whose authority I have been placed under – my husband, my church elders and other church leadership. And recognize that they are in leadership over me because God has placed them there.

Second, as a leader in my home with my children, I have a great weight and responsibility.

1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 says “For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you? For you are our glory and joy.”
I am being held accountable for my children, and one day hope that they will be presented before the King as his children. I pray that I will see them as my hope, my joy, my crown of boasting before the Lord, that he will be able to accomplish great things through their lives, even for them to come to him as their Saviour, and that I would be a faithful servant and do the work without groaning, but with joy.
