Many thanks to Laura Lake for the conversion of the bread maker recipe to oven!
- 2 1/4 cups water (warm)
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 2 tablespoons milk powder (or remove 2 tbsp water and put in 2 tbsp milk)
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 2/3 cup honey
- 6 cups whole wheat flour
- 3 teaspoons active dry yeast
Put the above ingredients into your bread maker and all it to do a full dough cycle (90 minutes).
Split dough in two. Lightly spray the bread pans with cooking spray (if you want, you may not need it though). Boil water and place it in a bowl in the oven with the dough to rise, 30-40 minutes.
Remove the water. Bake bread @ 350 for 30 minutes.
