It’s the start of a new year, and as things start to get back to normal, we begin to take a look at areas of our lives that need to change. Organization, dedication, priorities in life, bible study, exercising, meal planning, etc. One of those areas that I am constantly working on is a healthier lifestyle. I’ve always struggled with food and exercise, in different ways, from being too concerned about it to being completely unconcerned about it. And having just been through pregnancy and now with a newborn, it’s even more important for me to find a balance – not only for my own well-being, but also for my family’s.
When I heard that Jessica Heights wanted some readers to help review her new e-book, 100 Pound Loser - How I Ate What I Wanted, Had Four Babies, & Still Took Control Of My Weight – And You Can Too! - I jumped at the opportunity immediately!
I love Jessica’s style of writing – I can hear her voice speaking right through her words! She is genuine, encouraging and challenging. And she hits the nail ON THE HEAD with this book! This is a totally refreshing, from the heart, realistic peep into the heart, challenges and successes of a woman who has been a loser and won!
Let me break it down for you a bit in terms of how it has affected me.
1. You’re beautiful as you are. Jessica makes it very clear from the very beginning of the book that God has created you and me BEAUTIFUL. Period. So don’t go stressing over exercise and diet for beauty reasons, because if you can’t accept yourself for who God made you to be NOW, you will still struggle with it later.
2. Our bodies are a temple. God created us, and his Spirit lives within us, so it is our privilege and responsibility to do our utmost, with his help, to take care of these earthly bodies he has blessed us with. That means eating WELL AND exercising!
3. One key to success is eat what you’re craving. I was totally blown away by this statement, but I recognized that Jessica was 100% right! To find out what she means you need to read the book ;0)
4. Reward yourself for a job well done. Just don’t do it with food! I love Jessica’s alternative…but you’ll have to read about it ;0)
In all, this book was a great encouragement to me to read right at the start of a new year where I am considering new ways of eating, new lifestyle and exercise options. There are great resources and ideas that Jessica has made available to us and you won’t be disappointed! So what are you waiting for – get the book! :0)
